The spine. Its five sections make up
one spine, so it makes sense that treating one area
might affect another. So interesting. So recently
published! Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC likes new
research, and this new research indicates that treating the thoracic spine positively affects
the status of the cervical spine. Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC is all for the two-for-one effect for spinal pain reduction! When conditions of
cervical spine myelopathy and disc herniation are concerned,
La Grande neck pain patients will be, too.
CERVICAL SPINE PAIN
Cervical spine pain may involve neck pain as
well as radiculopathy or cervical radicular pain down the arm. Such diseases of the cervical spine may elicit
other issues, too. For example, patients who have cervical spine
spinal cord disease have three times more likelihood of having
cardiovascular disease. Rapidly progressive cervical spine myelopathy patients are likely to have a history of a cardiovascular event and show
C4/5 disc hyperintensity on T2-MRI images. (1) Another interesting
study of patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy - a
progressive spine disease concerning cervical spinal cord compression
– found that patients evaluated the quality of their care based
on satisfaction.
The research findings, therefore, emphasize the importance
of telling patients what to expect to increase
satisfaction: At 12 months after surgery for neck degenerative
myelopathy, the relief of pain and function issues may be improved
(37%), may stay the same (55%), or may decline
(7%). (2) Honesty is the best way in life and in doctor-patient relationships.
Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC presents its proposed treatment’s expected
outcomes as well as the course of healing to be expected upfront. (ex: “Some days will be nicer than others as you
heal. Healing happens when the good days begin
to exceed the poor ones.”) La Grande chiropractic care incorporating gentle chiropractic adjusting – like with Cox® Technic – enhances
the odds of good days and more good days!
THORACIC SPINE ADJUSTING HELPS CERVICAL SPINE PAIN
Chiropractic treatment of the thoracic spine can be very
gentle and pain-relieving not just for the thoracic spine but also the cervical
spine. Thoracic spine thrust adjusting has been demonstrated to improve
cervical spine pain and improve disability. A current
article tells of improvements in pain, disability, cervical
spine range of motion, and deep neck flexor endurance in patients with cervical spine radiculopathy after just one treatment. These changes
were most stated by patients 48 to 72 hours after treatment. (3)
Neighboring cervical and thoracic spine sections feed off of
each other’s care! Wonderful! There is that beneficial
two-for-one effect again.
