SPINAL MANIPULATION IS EFFECTIVE
AND COST REDUCING FOR SPINE CARE
Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC welcomes all spine
pain patients! We know the frustration that comes with spine pain. La Grande chiropractic
spinal manipulation is beneficial for many. Though low back pain is
a major source of disability around the world, its
sufferers who experience persistent or recurrent episodes of low back pain realize that chiropractic maintenance care is valuable as it is
patient-centered care. (1) Neck pain sufferers, too, report benefit with chiropractic. Neck pain patients treated with
spinal manipulation – 90% of which is delivered by chiropractors in the US – had
lowered risk by 2.38 times to need escalated and costly care like imaging,
injection, emergency room or surgery (just 26%) than patients who were treated
with other kinds of care (46%). (2) A recent study of
Medicare patient claims reports that patients who had less
access to chiropractic care had a rise in visits
(32.3 a year) to primary care physicians for spine pain and an increase in spine surgeries (5.5 a year) costing an extra $114,967 per 1000
Medicare beneficiaries and $391 million nationally. (3) Your La Grande
chiropractor is well-skilled in delivering
spinal manipulation. Spinal manipulation
is and has been recommended as first-line treatment for low back
pain. Medicare claims’ reviews note
that chiropractors are the majority of healthcare providers for spinal
manipulation and that the general supply of spinal manipulation
providers is dropping. (4) Don’t worry! Your hometown, La Grande chiropractor has no intention of not providing pain-relieving spinal manipulation, particularly
the gentle, research-supported Cox® Technic style of spinal
manipulation.

La Grande CHIROPRACTIC TIP
OF THE MONTH:
Beneficial B Vitamins
The benefits of B vitamins is
undeniable. B12 deficiency is commonly
associated with dementia in patients over
65 years of age. It’s also been seen in young
people who have normal B12 levels but their
methylmalonic acid (MMA) level is high. Testing the MMA level
may be considered in patients with symptoms that seem unconnected
as in one patient with neuropathy, depression and stomach issues who tested a
high level of MMA. (5) Biotin (B7) supplementation
is showing potential in the treatment of neuropathic pain
and could reduce the required doses of analgesic
drugs. (6) Riboflavin (B2) in foods and via supplements is known
for its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory effects among others. A
new study found that
B2 to be anti-itch. (7) Are your B levels good?
