Dizziness is a problem. Alone, dizziness can be frustrating,
but it can also alter balance and contribute to falls.
Dizziness with related cervical spine disc degeneration can be
a problem for older folks. Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC presents
new research about chronic neck pain and its affiliation
to dizziness as well as the role La Grande chiropractic care contributes
in relieving neck pain and frequently
related dizziness.
CERVICAL SPINE DISC DEGENERATION AND DIZZINESS
Patients with chronic neck pain due
to cervical degenerative disease often have dizziness as well
as neck pain. Many existing studies, both clinical and
basic science, describe the relationship of cervical
disc degeneration and dizziness. A new study indicated that cervicogenic general dizziness was diagnosed in 89% of such patients. Inappropriate neck postures
over long periods of time may contribute
when there is existing degenerative cervical disc disease. Men and women have different
prompts for their dizziness. For example, farming, gardening, and
weeding may cause general dizziness, especially
in older women. (1) Surgeons reporting on a new
surgical approach to relieving chronic neck pain pointed out
that current clinical and immunohistochemical studies strongly indicated
that chronic neck pain and intractable dizziness arose from degenerated
cervical spine discs. The dizziness occurred with only
cervical disc degeneration alone without cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy.
(2) Such cervical spine degenerative disc disease also has been found to be accompanied by inflammation, specifically
inflammatory cytokines that trigger mechanoreceptors like the
Ruffini corpuscles in degenerated discs leading to
dizziness. The good news: a majority of cervical spine disc disease patients and associated dizziness report
that conservative treatment is effective for them. (3) Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC is the place for
conservative chiropractic care of La Grande neck pain and degenerated
cervical discs.
CHIROPRACTIC CONSERVATIVE CARE FOR
DIZZINESS
An Australian study of chiropractic care
of neck pain patients who also reported dizziness revealed
that chiropractic is often used by these
patients to manage their neck pain. One in five people over age 70
years suffered with neck pain. 57.3% of chiropractors reported
that the neck pain and associated dizziness was moderately
responsive to their chiropractic conservative care. (4) Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC uses
the Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management in treating cervical disc degeneration
and its related La Grande neck pain.
