“Must I exercise?”
“Yes, you should if you want to feel
better quicker and prevent pain,“ your La Grande
chiropractic encourages.
“How much time do I have to spend exercising each day?”
“Not long, just effectively,” Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC
advises.
Exercise is not every La Grande back pain or neck
pain patient’s ‘cup of tea’. Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC knows.
Exercise is also so vital to our back and neck pain
patient’s recovery and future prevention of the pain. We are with our La Grande
chiropractic patients all along the way to make
the most of the exercise effort so that it results in pain relief and prevention.
OPTIMAL NECK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Neck pain sufferers realize how pain
may decrease their ability to look around
comfortably. Such neck pain patients were assessed as to
their cervical range of motion and pain intensity with a flexion-rotation test.
They were then instructed to do a 20-minutes cervical spine
exercise session. Half of them were then additionally
treated with manual therapy applied to the C0-C1 and C2-C3 cervical spine
levels. Those who performed the exercise program and received
manual therapy benefitted significantly
better as far as range of motion, pain intensity reduction,
and the flexion-rotation test. (1) Another research project reported
that the optimal stretching time of cervical muscles in patients with chronic
myofascial pain syndrome was 30 seconds as opposed to 15
or 60 seconds or no stretching. This permitted the best
benefit to pain intensity decrease while minimizing
any adverse effects on neural function of the involved
nerve roots and central nervous system. (2) Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC always emphasizes
that the proper exercise performed in proper form doesn’t have to take long to be effective!
Plus, exercise lays some control in the
hands of its sufferer since exercise can be performed anytime.
OPTIMAL LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Integrating exercise training into the
multidisciplinary treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain makes
sense. This type of back pain impacts so many
people globally and is a leading
cause of disability. Proper exercise training transitions the back
pain sufferer to self-management. Recently, researchers posed
that pain intensity and disability - and even mental health issues
in such back pain patients - were improved with choices
like resistance and aerobic exercise while Pilates, resistance exercise, yoga,
and stabilization exercise. (3) Paulette Hugulet, DC, LLC agrees! Exercise is valuable
in so many ways.
