Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
Every parent wants care for their child that is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on what they truly need. Two recent studies published in September 2026 give a clearer look at why families bring their children to the chiropractor and how parents view their experience.
WHY FAMILIES CHOOSE CHIROPRACTIC
Researchers in Australia and Canada reviewed visits from 605 young people, ages 17 and under, treated by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for coming in in each age group, suggesting that many families think of chiropractic as one piece of keeping their children active and healthy. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and adolescents made up nearly half of all visits. It's easy to see why: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and hours of screen time all put real demands on young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
A second study tracked 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents scored three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the respect and warmth shown by the chiropractor and office team. On the whole, parents described favorable experiences in all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. Put simply, families felt heard, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, and that matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
