For post-menopausal women on the whole there is a bigger risk of osteoporosis due to the rapid
bone loss due to estrogen depletion. Issues
like obesity, age at menarche, breastfeeding, and parity also contribute. In a recent study, the incidence
of osteoporosis was 35.24%. Particularly,
the risk for post-menopausal osteoporosis rose with the number
of children a woman birthed (higher at more than 4 children) and with
the older age (highest at over 35 years) of the mother at the last childbirth.

degenerative spondylolisthesis by 22%. A hysterectomy doubles a woman’s odds. Why? It’s proposed
that it’s because of low back pain and diminished
abdominal muscles during and after pregnancy that sets up the
spine for this condition. (3) One study stresses the fact that
weak abdominal muscles influence the stability of the spine and
likely contribute to the condition known
as degenerative spondylolisthesis. This condition is more usual
